A discard is a card that a player chooses to remove from their hand and place in a discard pile during a card game. This action is typically taken when a player cannot or does not want to play the card in their hand. The discard pile is usually placed face-up so that all players can see the cards that have been discarded. In some games, players may have the option to pick up cards from the discard pile to add to their hand. **

Budgerigars typically discard unfertilized eggs during the incubation period. If a budgerigar senses that an egg is not viable, it may push it out of the nest or abandon it. This behavior is a natural instinct to ensure that the bird focuses its energy on caring for viable eggs and offspring. Budgerigars are known to be attentive and protective parents, so they will prioritize the care of healthy eggs and chicks. **

In Durak, players can discard cards by placing them face up in a discard pile. This can be done during their turn after playing cards to defend against an attack or when they have too many cards in their hand. The discarded cards remain in the discard pile for the duration of the game and are not used again.
