A Sumatran Barb aquarium is a type of aquarium setup specifically designed to house Sumatran Barbs, which are a species of freshwater fish native to Southeast Asia. These aquariums typically include plants, rocks, and driftwood to mimic the natural habitat of the Sumatran Barbs. It is important to provide ample swimming space and hiding spots for these active and social fish. Additionally, a well-maintained filtration system and regular water changes are essential for keeping a Sumatran Barb aquarium healthy. **

To breed Sumatran barbs, you will need a separate breeding tank with soft, slightly acidic water and plenty of plants for the fish to spawn in. It is important to condition the breeding pair with high-quality foods such as live or frozen foods to prepare them for spawning. Once the female has laid her eggs, the parents should be removed from the tank to prevent them from eating the eggs. The eggs will hatch in about 24-36 hours, and the fry can be fed with infusoria or commercially available fry food. **

No, Sumatran barbs do not only swim under the filter. They are active swimmers that can be found throughout the aquarium, exploring different areas and swimming at various levels. While they may occasionally swim near the filter to take advantage of the water flow and oxygenation, they are not restricted to that area. It is important to provide them with plenty of space to swim and explore in the aquarium. **

Sumatran barbs are generally active and social fish that exhibit schooling behavior at room temperature. They are known to be peaceful and can be kept in groups of 6 or more. At room temperature, they are likely to swim together in a coordinated manner, displaying their natural schooling behavior. It is important to provide them with plenty of space and hiding spots in the aquarium to ensure their well-being. **

It is generally not recommended to keep Sumatran barbs with cockatoo cichlids. Sumatran barbs are peaceful schooling fish, while cockatoo cichlids can be aggressive and territorial, especially during breeding. The size difference between the two species can also lead to potential aggression and stress for the barbs. It is best to keep them in separate tanks to ensure the well-being of both species. **

Sumatran barbs and cuckoo catfish can be kept together in the same aquarium as long as the tank is large enough to accommodate both species and provide enough hiding spots and territories for each. Sumatran barbs are generally peaceful and can coexist with other non-aggressive fish, including cuckoo catfish. However, it's important to monitor their interactions and ensure that both species are getting along well to prevent any potential aggression or stress. Additionally, it's important to provide a suitable diet for both species to ensure their health and well-being. **

Suitable companions for the Sumatran barb include other peaceful, schooling fish that are similar in size and temperament. Some good options could be other barb species such as Cherry Barbs or Tiger Barbs, as well as small tetras like Neon Tetras or Ember Tetras. It's important to avoid aggressive or fin-nipping fish, as well as any fish that may outcompete the Sumatran barb for food. Additionally, it's important to ensure that the tank is large enough to accommodate the schooling behavior of the Sumatran barb and its companions. **
